Blue Ripple's initial business and technical plan was born out of frustration with the processes employed today to solving the problem of moving digital content through the information supply chain. Sanjeev Datta, then vice president of the Internet Technology Group at Fidelity saw the opportunity to create greater efficiencies in content distribution. Sanjeev and partner Les Hill left Fidelity to found Blue Ripple. Armed with his experience as a prospective customer for Blue Ripple, he and Les architected the Blue Ripple Web Service solution.

In February 2000, Blue Ripple was formed. Blue Ripple has raised $4M in seed funding.
